Promoting British Fashion

The One & Only are champions of British design. Although we are a collective made from a team from all corners of the globe, our hearts have been stolen by the quality and heritage which can only come from the British Isles. When you think about iconic British fashion houses, many of us immediately picture Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood – their distinct London edge, their patriotic creations emblazoned with the Union Jack. There are however, a number of British designers who don’t yet hold superstar status – yet their forward-thinking design, creativity and quality are parallel to those who we are so used to dominating the British fashion scene. In our latest blog, we look at some of our very own ‘Best of British’, which you can expect to find at our next pop up in London.

Osman

Debuting at London Fashion Week a mere 9 years ago, Osman, the eponymous womenswear label from British born designer Osman Yousefzada, has quickly established himself as one of London’s most exciting and talented designers. Son to a dressmaker, Osman was immersed into the world of fashion from a tender age. The brand is known for elegant and sculptural silhouettes which are made to both flatter and celebrate the feminine shape. Expect to find structured separates and colour block pieces from Osman at our October sale, 35 Baker Street, London.

John Richmond

John Richmond

Manchester-born designer John Richmond propelled himself into the fashion sphere immediately after graduating from Kingston University in the early 80’s, with a collection under his own name, at a time when punk and rock governed the streets of London. He soon moved to Milan where he truly felt at home, surrounded by fashion powerhouses Armani, Joseph Tricot and Fiorucci. He gained worldwide fame by dressing stars such as Madonna, Annie Lennox and David Bowie to name a few. Our edit of John Richmond includes luxe fur and leather, heavily influenced by the rock scene with stud details and statement patterns.

Gushlow & Cole

Best friends Emma Gushlow and Katrina Cole have created their own label based on both their love of luxury vintage fashion, and Katrina’s father’s historical shearling empire, Cole of Kent. Following their graduation from The London College of Fashion, their innovative designs were soon picked up by Nicole Farhi which set the wheels in motion, creating the Gushlow & Cole brand. From humble beginnings selling shearling and leather homewear and accessories – to now investment outerwear pieces which can be found worldwide in high-end retailers, there is no stopping the female duo. Katrina says “Gushlow & Cole is more than just a brand, at its heart is our lifelong friendship, a strong sense of family and business born of determination and an entrepreneurial British spirit”.  Gushlow & Cole will be joining us at 35 Baker Street for our 2-day pop up over the 19th and 20th October. A rare opportunity not to be missed. For exclusive early access to the sale, tickets can be purchased here.
